About This Blog:

This blog is focused on the LGBTQ community. Those letters stand for "lesbian", "gay", "bi-sexual", "transgender", and "queer" and/or "questioning". Because this group has been marginalized by society as a whole, and in some cases persecuted unfairly, they share the common bond of being outsiders. In addition to that, the specific reason for the prejudice that they experience is their gender identification.

This group has certain health issues, both physical and mental, in common as well as a shared need for places to socialize where they feel safe and secure. This blog will direct the reader to resources that may help navigate the LGBTQ community network in Portland, Oregon.

One shared subject that is currently topical is gay marriage, this is what my friend Marcus' response to North Carolina's recent Amendment defining marriage as strictly between a woman and a man.

"Bigoted fools. That's all I can say. You all obviously care more about anal sex than you say you do, because you are so obsessed of my right to marry and what we do in the privacy of our own homes. So go shoot up some oxy's you rednecks. I hope your kids grow up to be gay... You know what? No I don't because that's just wishing that they grow up in a miserable household. I'm proud of my family and friends who support and love me. Your "Christian" values are that of Satan who preaches hate. I hope your Goddess forgives you, because I don't. Sincerely, a gay, black, Spanish, Unitarian, vegetarian, northern, socialist, liberal."

Another friend says:

"I still love NC. But I have to say, after seeing all the pain and hurt that my friends are going through in that state right now, I am embarrassed to hear of the passing of Amendment 1. What a shameful day for the state and for the USA. I will continue to send my love and support to those who are working tirelessly for justice and equality for all Americans. I am a proud Bisexual man and I will marry (or not marry) whomever I see fit and I dare anyone to try and stop me."

I think that all members of the LGBTQ community support the civil rights enjoyed by all Americans to extend fully to this community.
