At the end of this month the Supreme Court will hear arguments on two cases regarding marriage equality. There is a rally scheduled in Washing D.C planned for March 25th through 27th to coincide with the Supreme Court hearings. If you're in the area turn our to support this landmark event!
Responses from CPAC Attendees to Portman's Support of Same-Sex Marriage
The following video documents responses to Senator Rob Portman's announcement that he supports same-sex marriage now because his son is gay. The reporter was at the Conservative Political Action Conference so the responses are painfully predictable.

Rob Portman Reverses Gay Marriage Stance After Son Comes Out
Conservative GOP Senator Rob Portman Senator recently changed his position on same-sex marriage when his son came out as gay. This is notable because he was in the forefront in the campaign supporting Mitt Romney's 2012 Presidential run. While someone of this prominence reversing their position is good news, I still feel that the subjective and personal nature of his decision simply highlights the problem in gaining wider acceptance of LGBTQ lifestyles.
Dick Cheney as the highest ranking Republican with a homosexual child, is another outlier in this debate. Supporting same-sex rights shouldn't depend on having a gay family member; it's selfish to base political decisions, particularly for people in power, on personal stake in the issue.

Jailbreak the Patriarchy
I recently downloaded the Google plug-in, "Jailbreak the Patriarchy". It's pretty entertaining to view a site through the lens it creates. The application flips gendered words to their opposite, exposing sexist word choices and style. It's amazing to see bias exposed in this way; try it on an article covering female politicians, for example, and prepare amused at the amount of time discussing Joe Biden's hair style.

Just Say No to "No Homo"
I love Jay Smooth's take on "no homo." Sarcastically using the phrase "no homo" is more likely to propagate the offensive phrase than to destigmatize it. And the video is kinda funny...
This an "Old Person's Guide to No Homo" from the hip-hop video blog Ill Doctrine~

Move to National Electronic Health Records Potentially Risky for LGBT Patients
While electronic record keeping would appear to be a positive direction in health care for everyone, there is a potential downside for LGBTQ individuals as explained in this article from Truthout.org. Even one's own healthcare provider may harbor prejudice, and because conscious or unconscious bias can sneak in to every facet of life, the LGBTQ individual must to stay especially vigilant.

Hilarious Fox News Slip-Up
Fox News used this wedding photo to accompany an article supporting traditional gender roles. Unbeknowst to Fox, this is not a man and a woman kissing. When Fox found that the photo they used is of a same-sex couple, they took it down.
